Frequently Asked Questions:
Without question—and if for any reason, you do not feel that is the case, please talk to us about it. If anyone does not feel welcome or accepted in our community, we feel that is our problem and we want to know about it and work to change it.
For our visitors, we don’t want you to feel like anything is expected of you. We want you to feel like our guests—and we promise not to put you on the spot while you are visiting or stalk you after you leave. What we do expect from everyone is a baseline of loving and accepting all people. We are committed to openly and lovingly journeying together.
Expect to be welcomed and accepted just as you are. AHUMC offers Modern worship every Sunday at 9:30 a.m. Our modern services include prayer, teaching, and band-led congregational singing.
No matter where you park, head toward the atrium—the three-story tower of windows in the middle of the building. Our Hospitality Team will meet you there and help you get where you need to go.
Absolutely. We offer both nursery childcare and a wonderful Children’s Ministry for ages 2 through 11.
Our Youth Ministry also offers classes and gatherings for Grades 6 through 12.
AHUMC and the Rio Texas Conference have partnered with Safe Gatherings to screen and train staff and volunteers who work with children, youth, and vulnerable adults. Thorough background checks and extensive training are employed to help keep our kids and vulnerable adults safe. Every person at AHUMC who works with children, youth, and/or vulnerable adults must be certified every two years.

The United Methodist Church was formed in 1968 by uniting The Methodist Church and the Evangelical United Brethren Church. The roots of Methodism can be traced to the revival movement of John and Charles Wesley in 18th century England. For more information about the United Methodist Church, click here.

Absolutely! United Methodists celebrate communion at an open table. All are welcome. There are no conditions. There is also no minimum age. The love of God is free and open to all and we demonstrate this belief in Communion.
Anyone wishing to be baptized or have their child baptized, can be baptized in the United Methodist Church, except those who have already been baptized. As we understand baptism to be an act of God, it is complete and need not be repeated.
If you are interested in pursuing baptism for yourself or your child, visit our baptism page.
Our "Who We Are" page explains a bit about the community of faith at AHUMC.
Each semester, we host a "Lunch with the Pastors" which is an open dialogue and introduction to AHUMC. Hope to see you there! Contact us here to find out more details.
There is an opportunity to join AHUMC at every service. You can tell any of our staff or volunteers that you are interested in joining or send us an e-mail.
