Growing in the story of God’s love

Every Sunday at 9:30 & 11 a.m.

East Wing near the playground.

It is our hope that children at AHUMC will come to understand how much they are loved by our Heavenly Father, that they are part of God’s big story, and that they are an important and beloved part of our church family.

Sunday Morning Nursery

Our Sunday morning nursery will reopen, at limited capacity, beginning October 18.

We will have a room for infants thru crawlers and a room for toddlers thru 2 year olds. We will be following the CDC recommendations and local health protocols for safety as we reopen. Our initial goal is to provide care for the littlest wiggly ones so their families can enjoy worship. Older children are welcome in both of our worship services. There are activity bags in both worship services to help occupy your children, if needed.

If you would like to drop off your infant, crawler, toddler or 2 year old, please click on the reservation button as space is limited.

We ask that you pre-screen your children for any signs of illness before bringing them to church. We will be doing temperature checks at check-in. All of our staff will be wearing masks.

KidCheck App for Check-In

To help expedite the check-in process, as well as keep it “hands free”, we encourage you to download the KidCheck app on your phone. This will allow you to check your child in on your way to church. Once you arrive just click on the “Submit Check In” button and your child’s nametag + Parent Receipt will begin to print from one of our kiosks.

Bedtime Stories

Let our staff & pastors read a bedtime story to your children!

We'll read two stories each week. Most will tie in with the Bible story for the week.

This new curriculum from Cokesbury is all about honoring the spiritual life of children. Celebrate Wonder is centered around Bible stories and encourages children to explore their faith through Wonder Questions. During the Children's Moment each week our worship leaders will use a Wonder Cube and a Wonder Box which will invite children into conversation to help deepen their connections to the Bible and to their faith.

For the month of October, our lessons will be on stories of Faith: Abraham and Sarah / God's Promises to Abraham / Abraham's Visitors / Isaac is Born.

To assist families with the lesson each week, we're offering Family Kits that will include supplemental supplies included in each week's lesson + a Family Activity Book. If you would like to be added to our email list to receive a Parent Lesson each week as well as reserve a Family Kit for the month, click HERE to contact Gina Beal.

Family Kits will be available for pickup at the reception desk at the church beginning Sunday, Sept. 27.

KidCheck is a secure children's check-in system that enhances AHUMC's security system and simplifies the check-in process. KidCheck helps ensure no one can pick up your child without your consent.

Children's Ministries requires ALL children—nursery through 5th grades—to check-in through KidCheck. It is important you create your account before you arrive to church. Go to, select "Create Your KidCheck Account" and follow the on-screen prompts. You can also download the KidCheck Mobile Check-In App to create, manage, & update your account right on your phone.

Be a part of one of our Teaching Teams!

Would you like to be a part of one of our Teaching Teams? Our goal is to have teams of at least 6, so that leaders are able to teach as often as they want but also have the flexibility to teach once a month if that works better for your family. Please let us know if you have questions about being a part of a Teaching Team!

The AHUMC and Rio Texas Conference have partnered with Safe Gatherings to screen and train volunteers who work with the ministries who serve our children, youth, and vulnerable adults. Both the background checks and trainings are thorough and include best practices to keep our kids and vulnerable adults safe.
