Alamo Heights UMC,
It’s good to be back!
My name is Reed McNitzky, and I am excited to be with you again in ministry. For those of you who don’t know, Alamo Heights UMC is my home church; from ages 3-18, you helped me grow as a follower of Christ. This church is also where I began to discover and explore my call to ordained ministry within The United Methodist Church. Now, I am eager to return to you as one of your associate pastors, ready to see and be part of all that God has for us and for our community through us.
A bit more of my background: I attended The University of Texas at Austin where I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in 2015. Then, I attended Duke Divinity School in Durham, North Carolina, where I received my Master of Divinity degree in 2018. I was ordained as an Elder in the Rio Texas Conference in 2021. My previous pastoral appointment was at University Methodist Church, where I served for 5 years as an associate pastor. While there, I had a variety of experiences with congregational care, missional outreach, and adult discipleship. I am exceedingly grateful for the people of University and will cherish the influence they had upon my faith and my ministry. They instilled in me a deep trust in God’s goodness and the value of the faith community in which we experience God’s grace.
My wife, Becca, is the Executive Director of Magdalena House, a transitional shelter for women and their children fleeing abuse and violence. Becca is also an ordained Deacon in the United Methodist Church. Becca and I are also elated to share that we are expecting our first child, a girl, who is due to arrive in mid-August. We know that our calling as parents will teach us so much about the grace of God, and we are so eager to be tangible signs and constant reminders of God’s love for our daughter.
I cannot wait to meet you and hear more about you. I know that God is working within each of your stories to bring together the great and beautiful story God is telling. I am excited to join you in your pursuit of building community, sharing God’s love, and serving the world.
Sincerely,
Reed McNitzky
