FISHING UNDER THE BRIDGE
December 28, 2025
Once a month, every 4th Sunday, volunteers work at the Haven for Hope in the kitchen.
This ministry needs people to help with cooking, serving the meal, and clean-up after the meal. This is an outreach ministry that gives volunteers in our church and the community a chance to serve those who are experiencing houselessness.
Please sign up within the first two weeks of the month.

HEALING PRAYER SERVICE
January 13, 2026
The root of the word "healing" in New Testament Greek, sozo, is the same as that of salvation and wholeness. We are offered balance, harmony, and wholeness of body, mind, spirit, and relationships through confession, forgiveness, and reconciliation.
Join us for this service of healing prayer and wholeness in the Garden Chapel at 6:30 p.m. All are welcome.
DISCIPLE: INVITATION TO THE OLD TESTAMENT
beginning January 14
Join Senior Pastor Jason Adams and Mission and Outreach Pastor Janet Weatherston and gain a deeper understanding of the Hebrew Bible.
Explore the Old Testament's story of God and God's calling of the people of Israel through the many "voices" of the biblical text. Hear the magnificence of a Creation hymn, discover the law and wisdom teachings, listen to the warning of the prophets and explore the poetry of the Song of Solomon.
MAKING YOUR GRIEF COUNT
beginning January 14
Porter Loring Mortuaries and AHUMC would like to invite you to join us in an eight-week program for those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. This program is designed to create a safe place to: embrace your grief and learn to bear it, discover how your loved one can live on into your life story, strengthen your characteristics of resilience, and plan for how you will continue to heal and live a meaningful life.
COMMON SPACE: A SUNDAY MORNING DIALOGUE
beginning January 18
Join us in S107 (the handbell room) at 9:30 for a weekly dialogue and exploration of the biblical stories—both the ones you know and love and the ones that seem to confound and confuse. This is not a lecture or a book study. There is no homework or assigned reading. Through active and participatory conversation, we will get to know each other and learn together as we wrestle with the questions that exist on the tips of our tongues and in the depths of our hearts.
ENTRY POINT: A SUNDAY MORNING GATHERING
beginning January 18
Join pastor Reed McNitzky for this weekly gathering of connection and conversation. Whether you are new to AHUMC and looking to connect or you are a regular attendee looking to go deeper, this weekly gathering can be your point of entry.
Each week, we gather in the parlor following the Modern Worship Service to share stories, ask questions, and dialogue together.
SPIRITUAL BUT NOT ANXIOUS
beginning January 18
There is a reason that the phrase "spiritual but not religious" exists. Now more than ever, people are finding it difficult to reconcile their experiences or worldviews with the anxiety that organized religion too often creates.
Religion should be the counter to anxiety—not its cause. Join pastors Chris Estus and Darrell Smith for this weekly dialogue as we trace the root causes of our most basic religious anxieties and learn to imagine a better way.
WHY DID JESUS HAVE TO DIE?
beginning January 20
Despite the crucifixion’s central place in Christian faith, the New Testament offers few clear answers about how Jesus’ death saves, or why, exactly, he had to die. The New Testament writers use a host of metaphors―ransom, sacrifice, reconciliation, victory―but never explain exactly how it works or why it had to happen this way.
Join pastor Donna Strieb as we explore Adam Hamilton's book and learn if we've been asking the wrong question. What if the cross isn’t a transaction to be explained, but a living Word from God meant to transform who we are and how we live?
MEN'S MINISTRY: MAKING SENSE OF THE BIBLE
beginning January 21
This group was formed to offer men a regular opportunity for Bible study and fellowship. Each semester we choose a different book to study and discuss together. This Spring we will study Making Sense of the Bible by Adam Hamilton.
Join Johnny Boyd for this weekly lunchtime dialogue. Bring your lunch or purchase one in the Atrium from Mission Bell.
COMMUNITY YOGA
beginning January 21
Whether you have practiced Yoga for years or are looking to try something new, join us for this free weekly hour with Yoga Alliance-licensed instructor, Dave Williams.
We will meet for 7 weeks in the CLC at AHUMC. The space is carpeted so please feel free to bring your own mat or towel and a water bottle.
FINANCIAL PEACE UNIVERSITY
beginning January 21
If you’ve ever felt like you just can’t get in control of your money, you’re not alone. You might even be surprised by how many people are struggling just like you. Take control of your money with Financial Peace University. This nine-week study uses biblical wisdom and common sense to help you tackle budgeting, pay off debt, and make your money work for you!
