Wear Red on Pentecost🥻

Pentecost Sunday - May 19, 2024

On Pentecost Sunday, we remember the day the disciples received The Holy Spirit in a special way. There was a powerful wind and tongues of fire (Acts 2:1-41).  With the gift of The Spirit, the disciples and people from all over the world were able to communicate and share the love of Jesus in ways everyone could understand.

Pentecost is also a layered remembrance that thematically coincides with the Feast of Weeks—or Shavuot—which celebrates the completion of the seven-week period between Passover and Shavuot.  Like Pentecost, Shavuot commemorates a new understanding or revelation of the divine story as it remembers the giving of The Torah on Mount Sinai.

Receiving The Torah and The Holy Spirit are far-reaching spiritual encounters that remind us of our relationship to God and each other.

One simple way we can all engage these remembrances is to participate in worship on Sunday, May 19.  All who are able to attend are also invited to wear red🔴—the color of Pentecost—symbolizing The Holy Spirit’s arrival with tongues of fire.

We hope to see you.

All are welcome!
