We'd like to give a huge thank you to everyone who supported and participated in our Stellar-themed week of VBS. As always, it was a blast to kick off the summer with kiddos and volunteers having a wonderful time playing games, making crafts, and finding new friends—all while learning more about God's love.
With 150 kid participants, 70 adult volunteers, and 57 youth helpers, the AHUMC campus was full of life and joy during the week.
Here's a note from Gina Beal, our Children's Ministry Director, about VBS:
We had a STELLAR week at VBS! This year’s theme was so fun to prepare for. A big thanks to Lindsay Magee and the tech majors at North East School of the Arts for building our awesome Lunar Lander that lit up and had fog for “blast off” each morning.
This awesome group of kids had a blast learning how to “shine Jesus’ light." These generous, big-hearted kids also collected shoes, socks, school supplies, along with cash and gift cards to give to children in need at Norman Thomas Elementary School in Freer, Texas. What great kids we have!
And I am so grateful for all of the awesome volunteers that helped us in so many ways: praying for each participant by name, helping us decorate, creating super fun crafts, sorting shirts, preparing snacks, sharing the Bible story each day, taking care of boo-boos, and always going above and beyond to lead and love on our kids. We also had THE BEST youth helpers! We are so grateful for each and every one of them that spent the week with us. Thank you to everyone that helped make this the best week ever!
We already can't wait for and are anticipating next year's theme so that our Children's Ministry can start planning what will be another amazing VBS in 2024!
