OPERA San Antonio: Amahl and the Night Visitors

OPERA San Antonio brings Amahl & the Night Visitors to AHUMC

Sunday, December 17, 2023 | 4 p.m. | Sanctuary

AHUMC is pleased to welcome OPERA San Antonio to our campus for a FREE performance of Amahl & the Night Visitors on Sunday, December 17 at 4 p.m. in the Sanctuary.

Amahl is a 45-minute opera composed by Gian Carlo Menotti and sung in English. The family-friendly story takes place on the night the three Wise Men are following a star to Bethlehem. They stop for shelter at the home of Amahl, a shepherd boy who lives with his widowed mother.

E. Loren Meeker, the Tobin Endowment General & Artistic Director describes Amahl & the Night Visitors as an “opera that explores themes of generosity and faith in a touching and heartwarming way through beautiful music, making it a very accessible production designed for all ages.”

The performance includes full sets and costumes, the Classical Music Institute Orchestra, and a full cast that features two local boys as Amahl: Carlos Pigeon and Graham Hansen.

We are also accepting donations for our Hope Center at the event! Any donation, big or small, makes a difference.
