Greetings everyone and prayers for continued safety. Your Board of Stewards continues to meet weekly to ensure that the concerns of the church are cared for in these surreal times. In our virtual meeting yesterday evening we continued to evaluate the current conditions and adjust as needed to be of service to God and to you.
The staff, pastoral, and lay, are doing so many things to support us. The maintenance staff is taking care of our building. Others are working from home to keep existing programs and create new ones using technology in new ways. Sunday school classes and small groups continue to connect weekly. And, most exciting of all, the Holy Week services are virtual. They are magnificent. The creativity abounds. Kudos to all.
Ryan Jacobson and his missions team are creating new opportunities for volunteers. After the Easter holiday we will be calling all of our members to check on them, ask for prayer requests, and see if we can be of support. If you would like to be a part of that effort, I urge you to follow the website for opportunities to volunteer. Even in lockdown, there are ways to be a part of the community. As a note, there are some of us who don’t have the access to a computer, phone or other means of technology. Please reach out to those with these technological lifelines. They are more isolated than the rest of us.
I thank you for your support of the church. These are indeed troubling times with loss of jobs and a variety of needs. Your support through volunteering and through financial gifts is so heartwarming. We are just really beginning to feel the impact of the situation. We are unsure when this will pass. We don’t know what our world will look like when we are finally out of “stay home, stay safe.” We do know that the needs will be even greater. Folks will look to AHUMC for support. Please continue to give as you can.
May you continue to be safe. Don't hesitate to reach out to staff or the Board. We are here for you.
Blessings,
Kathryn “Kitty” Meyers
