Please join us in welcoming Rev. Linda Baumheckel, our new Congregational Care Pastor!
About Linda:
Linda Baumheckel comes to AHUMC with a rich history in our Rio Texas Conference as an ordained elder and Sr. Pastor, including a cross-cultural appointment as the first female and Anglo to serve a then 154-year-old African American parish in Corpus Christi. Her previous appointment was at Universal City UMC, where she left to retire early and tend to family in Indianapolis.
She received her Master of Divinity from Perkins School of Theology, which included an additional year of studies to receive graduate certification in Pastoral Care. This period also included a one-year residency as a hospital chaplain, where she earned her Clinical Pastoral Education credentials.
While leading the Universal City UMC, she became a single-parent foster mom and cared for eight children. From that journey, she adopted her first and only child, now a teenager, Kyler.
Before ordination, Linda was a full-time church Music Director who recorded vocal, instrumental, and children's music albums and led international choir tours.
In her free time, she loves to travel with her son, attend the theatre, and participate in creative and social outlets like knitting, painting, writing, and entertaining friends.
