Volunteers Needed for Flower Ministry

Do you enjoy helping others and brightening their day? Are you looking for a way to serve AHUMC and Christ in a safe way in these unusual days? Then the Flower Ministry is for you! The recipients of this ministry range from elderly living in their own home, those with long-term non-contagious illnesses, in cancer treatments, or recovering from surgery.  (Retirement and nursing homes are not allowing flowers at this time.)

Each week, Bill Fitch takes the altar flowers (unless otherwise designated) and creates beautiful smaller arrangements. When there are funerals with flowers left at the church, those also are used to create more arrangements. At present, Kay Kennell takes them to members where possible. But Bill and Kay cannot do it alone.  They need others to come alongside them and help.

This ministry involves going by the church to pick up an arrangement or two, calling the person who is to receive the flowers, and arranging to leave them at the door of the person’s home for pick-up. This ministry can be done in a safe way as there does not have to be much interaction with others and social distancing can be maintained. Wearing masks is recommended for the safety of all.

If you are willing to serve in our wonderful Flower Ministry, please call Leah Jayne in the church office or email her at ljayne@ahumc.org. She will share your name and information with Bill and Kay.
