Dear Friends,
I hope and pray that you are having a wonderful summer. I know many of you are planning vacations and visiting relatives. It is important for each of us to “get away.” During your time away, please don’t forget the vital ministries of the church. It is because of your active support that we as a church can make a difference in the lives of our members, in our community, and in our world.
I am pleased to report that AHUMC is fervently engaged in ministry this summer. We have many outreach ministry plans. VBS, UM Army, New Zion mission trip, Project Transformation, Youth mission trip to Freer, Summer Sounds Music Camp, our Back-to-School supply drive, and for the first time, we will be offering an immunization truck to help kids receive their vaccinations for the start of school in August.
In July, we will be receiving our new associate pastor, Rev. Reed McNitzky and his wife, Rev. Becca McNitzky, Executive Director of Magdalena House. Reed will be the lead teaching pastor at our modern service. Reed’s dad, Rev. Dr. David McNitzky, was our senior pastor for 24 years, so this is a bit of a homecoming for him.
We will also be sprucing up our beautiful building with power washing of the exterior in July. Just think, our building will be white once again! All of this in preparation for our 30-year celebration of moving our church to Basse Road. Rev. Dr. David McNitzky will be preaching that day, September 22, and we will have many former pastors and their families with us as honored guests.
As you can see AHUMC is a busy place! We give thanks for all the ways God has blessed us, and we actively look for ways to share those blessings with others. Please remember us in your prayers and your gifts. Moreover, may you find time for rest, relaxation, and rejuvenation this summer as you enjoy the abundant grace of our loving God.
Grace and Peace,
Senior Pastor
