We have had some recent staffing changes at AHUMC!
Facilities Updates:
First, Gabe Garza—a beloved AHUMC employee of 21 years—recently accepted a new career opportunity at Community Bible Church. Read more about this update and his service to our church here.
Next, we are pleased to announce promotions for two of our Facilities staff members.
Rick Ortiz has been a much-appreciated and dedicated custodian at AHUMC for 21 years. As of January 17, he has assumed the role of Lead Custodian. In his new role, he will lead and support our custodial team in the day-to-day setup, cleaning, and security of our building and campus.
Enrique Guzman has assumed the role of Maintenance Supervisor. He joined our church staff in June of 2021 as a Maintenance Technician. Not only has he stayed on top of maintenance on our 85,000 sq. ft. campus, but he also brings career experience in management. In his new role, he will continue to take care of our day-to-day maintenance and provide general oversight for our Facilities team.
AHUMC is a better place with our Facilities team, and we're thrilled about Rick and Enrique's promotions.
Pastoral Intern Update:
Lynne Foreman, our Pastoral Intern since October 2022, has finished serving her time with us on campus and will now work on completing her written thesis. Lynne is a deacon candidate in the Las Misiones District, and her home church is St. Paul UMC. She recently finished her coursework and will participate in a graduation at United Theological University in Dayton, Ohio, in May 2023.
Throughout the short time Lynne has been with us, she has shown us just how faithful and friendly a follower of Jesus she is. She's open to what others have to say and has many gifts and graces to offer the church inside and outside the walls. Lynne is very passionate about social justice issues and has years of experience working with people who need assistance, and that experience helped us within our own outreach efforts.
AHUMC is very thankful for Lynne offering her time and talents to our church ministries. We will be looking for opportunities to partner with Lynne again in the future.
