2nd September Board of Stewards Meeting

Hello from the Board of Stewards. The Board, pastors, and staff are excited to welcome you back to in-person worship this Sunday. It has been a very long six months since we last met in person. There are many of us who will still shy away from attending due to various concerns. However, for those who attend, welcome! For those of us still viewing the services through the live stream, we are still connected to you.

This week’s Board meeting continued to focus on the financial status of the church. The decisions made over the past six months have positioned us well through the summer months. The assistance of the federal Paycheck Protection Act and the faithful assistance of the AHUMC Foundation continue to help us “weather the storm.” Your support has sustained our ministries and enabled us to continue to reach out in love and concern for our neighbors. The pastors and staff have created such a variety of opportunities for connection. While most are virtual, some in-person options are now available.

The Building Reopening Task Force continues to review and modify church access as the pandemic situation changes. Dr. Jernigan continues to monitor the conditions of the virus through his medical resources. This has proved invaluable as the committee makes the necessary decisions. We are so blessed with the talents and discernment of the committee. The church’s website continues to have the contact points for the opportunities, protocols and reopening status.

The worship team continues to amaze with the wealth of opportunities that they have and continue to create. We are so blessed. Please continue to check these out on the church website.

Thank you again for your support during these challenging times. The pandemic continues. As in-person opportunities come, I ask that you continue to follow the Wesleyan rule of “Do no harm.” Follow all health and safety guidelines to “do good” for fellow congregants. With the love of God, we will get through this. Blessings to all.
