This week we celebrated Independence Day. The Sanctuary worship on Sunday was filled with wonderful hymns. The service was again live streamed. We miss seeing everyone in person. However, the current conditions still prevent us from meeting.
The Board of Stewards meeting this week again focused on the key issues that we face as we work to provide that connection to God and each other that we all need, especially in the midst of the pandemic. You have so blessed us with your faithfulness. Your steadfast financial support has continued to help us meet the adjusted budget. As we do each meeting, we review the financial condition of the church. Even without the support of the federal CARES Act support, we are encouraged.
The Building Reopening Task Force advised the board of the declining use of the church facilities. The impact of the community situation is reflected as the number of groups meeting in person has declined. Church staff are again working from home. There have been a few reported cases of COVID-19 positive. The protocols and plans were implemented. All are safe.
We were all so sad when the decision was made to postpone in-person worship services. The task force is evaluating the information at each meeting regarding the current state of the virus and how it is impacting the community. While we all want to meet, we must wait until it is safe.
We are, however, discovering new ways of being church. Sunday worship continues with wonderful live-streamed services from the Sanctuary, CLC and Asbury. The pastors have started the new prayer and devotional time, Soul Connect, on Tuesday evenings. VBS is starting soon with new creative ways of connecting and learning. The website has many options for everyone. Please find one that helps you stay connected with us. WE DO MISS YOU! Blessings as we move through these trying times. Do no harm. Do good. Stay in love with God!
