HOW YOU CAN HELP VBS

AHUMC VBS NEEDS YOUR HELP!

At Jerusalem Marketplace, kids will travel back into Bible times and history will come alive as we discover more about life when Jesus walked the earth.  Kids will explore authentic marketplace shops where they can smell the fresh warm bread, weave a basket of reeds, make clay pots, as well as visit a Synagogue school and play games!

We are looking for items and volunteers who can help transform our church into Jerusalem Marketplace.

NEEDED ITEMS:

*Items can be returned following VBS

• cultural blankets and rugs
  (20 needed)
• large baskets
  (20 needed)
• large vintage pottery
  (it's okay if they're broken or chipped)
• canvas drop cloths
• pop up shades or canopies
  (12 needed)
• old bird cages
• H-E-B gift cards for snacks and water
  (place in an envelope for Gina Beal at the front desk)

NEEDED VOLUNTEERS:

• BAKERS - helping kids bake bread
• SHOPKEEPERS - helping kids craft simple mosaics
• BASKETMAKERS - helping kids weave simple baskets
• POTTERS - helping kids form a simple clay pot
• TRIBE LEADERS - shepherding kids from activity to activity
• STORYTELLERS - sharing selected stories with the kids

• DECORATORS - heping transform the church into the Jerusalem Marketplace

• SNACK HELPERS for the kids or the volunteers
• T-SHIRT HELPERS - organizing and distributing t-shirts
• PLAYGROUND HELPERS

IMPORTANT DATES:

• JUNE 6 - 10 - VBS Prep Week
• JUNE 9 - VBS Volunteer Training Dinner
• JUNE 12 - VBS Set Up Day!
• JUNE 13 -17 - VBS Week
• JUNE 19 - VBS Sunday (all VBS participants and volunteers are invited to celebrate VBS with our congregation during morning worship)
