The Rio Texas Annual Conference took place in Corpus Christi from June 7-10.
Annual Conference is a time when pastors and lay delegates come together to hear, review, and approve reports about the mission activities conducted by the churches and organizations of our conference. The appointment of our AHUMC pastors were made official during this conference. The Thursday Evening Service of Remembrance honors those pastors and pastor’s spouses who went to their heavenly assignment during the year. This year, our own Challes Donaho and Doris Miller were remembered.
On Friday evening, the service of ordination was held. Many of you know Reverend Jackie Freeman. Jackie was ordained as an Elder at this conference. The retirement of Reverend Greg Hackett was celebrated as well as the appointment of Reverend Doctor Robert Ortiz as our new District Superintendent.
The annual budget for the Rio Texas Conference was approved by the delegates, and Valerie Slade was elected to serve on the Conference Finance Table for the coming year.
AHUMC would like to thank our lay delegates who gave their time to represent our church and our district. The lay delegates are Robert and Bonny Cundiff, Charles and Cathy Johnson, Ed and Jackie Dickey, Hugh and Dianne Dorsett, Chip and Valerie Slade, Diane Ortiz, Nicholas Weatherston, and Kitty Meyers.
