We are so excited to welcome Andrea Hayter as the new Associate Director of Music and Worship Ministry. As an experienced music teacher and clarinetist, Andrea will be leading our Children’s Music Program, Music and Me Program, assisting with choral ensembles, and serve in sanctuary worship. We are excited about the many gifts, energy, and excitement Andrea brings to our ministry and AHUMC.
Meet Andrea Hayter
Andrea Hayter joined the AHUMC music ministry team in September 2021 after 10 years in the field of education. Most of her teaching experience is in elementary music throughout Texas, including Wichita Falls, Arlington, and Dallas. In 2019, Andrea was one of 6 teachers out of 60 elementary schools selected for the Arlington Masonic Lodge Teacher of Excellence Award. From 2012-2015, she lived in the Netherlands, where she taught English as a Second Language and music theory classes. Andrea finds joy in enabling people, especially children, to express themselves through music and is honored to have the opportunity to do this in a spiritual setting. Because worship through music has been an integral part of her faith journey from a young age, she is eager to share that with families here at AHUMC. Andrea holds a bachelor's in music education from the University of Houston and a master’s in Clarinet Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado. She enjoys cooking, yoga, reading, strategy games, and spending time with her husband, William.
