AHUMC Hope Center Offers Drive Thru Pantry

Throughout the pandemic, the AHUMC Hope Center has been remotely providing assistance with utilities to those in need, having helped 78 households since March. On Monday, November 16 they went a step further and offered a Drive Thru Food Pantry to their clients!

Over 1100 cans of food/boxes were donated during the Trick or Treat for a Cause food drive held by Student Ministries. Hope Center ministry partners were able to make over 70 bags of food for distribution. Ministry Partner Ginger Brewer contacted all of their clients to let them know of the event.  24 vehicles came through the Drive Thru distribution and Hope Center ministry partners were able to make connections with people they had only spoken to on the phone previously. The recipients were so appreciative of the help and were happy to make the connections as well! Undistributed bags will remain in the Hope Center to have on hand as people come to the church looking for assistance with food as well as some that will be distributed through the Lunch Bunch program to some elderly community members.

Thank you to our congregation for your generosity in helping to provide food for the hungry!
